LEASE WITH MCI WORLDCOM

IRVINE, CALIF. – The Irvine, Calif., office of Western States Technologies Inc., a Los Angeles-based real estate investment company, has announced that MCI WorldCom has signed a 10-year lease valued at $5 million. MCI WorldCom, a global telecommunications company providing fully integrated local, long distance, international and Internet services, signed the lease for 49,000 square feet at Western States Technologies’ development. The property is located at 16901 Jamboree Rd.

in Irvine.

According to Todd Miller, vice president of Western States Technologies, MCI WorldCom plans to use the space for a new data center. The Jamboree site will have optic telecommunications, Internet access and content hosting, and will also serve as a network management transmission facility with local and long-distance switch, node and collocation communications.

“MCI WorldCom sought a well-located site with the capacity to accommodate a wide range of technological needs,” Miller said. “We look forward to providing MCI WorldCom with a data center that not only meets today’s demands, but can also be adapted to handle innovations of the future.”

Western States Technologies was represented in the transaction by Jeff Mitchell and Dave Travis of Voit Commercial Brokerage’s Irvine office. Rhonda Siegrist and William White from the Torrance, Calif., office of Colliers Seeley represented MCI WorldCom.

Western States Technologies was established in 1985 in Los Angeles. The company concentrates on the successful development, acquisition and rehabilitation of industrial and office properties. Currently, the company owns and manages a mixed-use portfolio totaling more than one million square feet with more than 100 tenants in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and Ventura counties. By incorporating its strong, hands-on asset management approach, the company has averaged occupancy rates of more than 97 percent portfolio-wide over the past five years.
